Amanirenas was a queen of the Meroitic Kingdom of Kush. Her full name and title was Amnirense qore li kdwe li.

Queen Amanirenas was a ruler of the Kush Kingdom of Nubia, which is now considered the Sudan, who famously took on Roman occupiers of Kemet in a short-lived war. 

While the Kushite queen’s forces faced serious contention from the Romans, the nations negotiated a peace deal that lasted for centuries. Amanirenas was a “Kandake” which is a title that means “Queen Mother. 

Amanirenas was said to have lost an eye to battle, which gained her respect from the Romans. Research this great Nubian Queen.
